Deviation routes on campus!

Due to the renovation of the Tinbergen Building, a large section of Institutenlaan has been closed since Monday 17 June 2024. Furthermore, between 15 June and 10 November 2026, the north-eastern campus entrance (located on Kralingse Zoom near the F and G Buildings) will be closed. This means you will need to use alternative routes, which may cause delays. You will find the advised detour route below.

From 20 April, work will take place in Park Noord to drill four thermal energy storage wells (heat and cold storage). These wells will provide the Tinbergen Building with sustainable cooling and heating following its renovation. Two heat wells will be located in Park Noord and two cold wells at the north-east campus entrance (near F and G Building).

When will these works take place?

Phase and location Schedule
Phase 1 - Park Noord (North-west, near the F and G Buildings From 20 April to 14 June 2026
Phase 2 - Entrance (North-east, near the recycling centre)From 15 June to 10 November 2026

What are the consequences?

The work involved in phase 1 is not expected to cause any significant disruption.
The North-East campus entrance near the F and G Buildings will be closed to motorised traffic, cyclists and pedestrians during phase 2. The Tinbergen Building construction access road will remain open to the Tinbergen Building contractor and suppliers with a permit. The work area will be cordoned off with construction fences or tape.
