We aim to have a climate and nature-positive campus, advancing planetary health, resilience and well-being for everyone in an inclusive and accessible environment.

Our campus combines academic inquiry with operational practice, creating spaces where students, staff, and the broader Rotterdam community can address sustainability challenges together — where sustainability is tested, learned from, and lived.

Net-zero CO₂ emissions in scope 1 & 2 by 2030, net-zero in scope 3 by 2035.
Building emissions reduced to Paris-aligned levels by 2035.
50% reduction in CO₂ emissions from business travel and commuting by 2030 (vs. 2016).
A fully circular, zero-waste campus by 2030.

This increase is not the result of higher energy consumption but reflects the revision of emission factors by the RVO in the Co2emissiefactoren database: the emission factor for district heating increased from 25.05 to 38.43 kg CO2 e /GJ, a steep increase reflecting the latest developments in Dutch district heating infrastructure and generation. *Rise driven by newly included student mobility data. ***Rooftop capacity now fully used, remaining roofs support green roofs.
