About the mural

Emmerich: “The title ‘Twisting Thriving Topographies’ refers to the rhythmic and organic movement in the murals, in which lines and motifs intertwine, twist up and down, and flow through the space. Each floor and stairwell forms, as it were, an island or energy field with its own character.

'Twisting' refers to the dynamics and circulation of forms, “Thriving” to growth, vitality and the lively character of the compositions. “Topographies” emphasises the spatial structure, as if it were a landscape that can be explored both visually and conceptually.

The work combines historical and cultural references, such as Art Deco and Indonesian batik, and invites an experience that is both monumental and intimate, carrying the viewer away with its rhythm and colour."

After its unveiling, the mural will be part of EUR's exceptional art collection.
