Do you wish to take a minor at an institute of higher education other than the EUR, TU Delft or Leiden University? Please look carefully into the possibilities and bear in mind that each university has its own minor system. Minors at other universities may have a different scope or may be taught during a different period in the academic year.
Check with the relevant institute whether the minor of your choice is available for external students.
Ask the Exam Commission of your own bachelor program for permission to enter that minor in your examprogram
Apply for the minor according to the procedure of the relevant institute. Check if there are any additional steps you need to take.
What else do I need to know before I start a minor at another university?
You can follow a minor at the beginning of your third bachelor year. A minor is a coherent package of subjects/courses, with which you broaden your horizon.
You can find an overview of all minors offered at www.eduxchange.nl
The minor education is, based on the level of education and time spent, specially designed for third year bachelor students.
The minor education is given in the first 10 weeks or 20 weeks of the academic year. This means that the minor period at the EUR is from September till the beginning of November or until January. For some 30EC minors the minor period ends in January or February. Resits are in the summer (beginning of July).
Minors at the EUR are 15 EC. There are some exceptions please take a look at www.eduxchange.nl for 30 EC minors. Following a minor requires a full-time commitment (40 hours per week). It is not possible to follow other courses during this period.
During the registration period, you can register for a minor at EUR. After the registration period, you must contact your own faculty.
In order to register your grades at the EUR you need to hand in a certified Study Progress Overview to you home faculty.
The rules of the attended faculty apply to a minor. These are included in the Teaching and Examination Regulations (OER) and the Rules and Regulations (R&R) of the relevant faculty.
Example
When you follow a minor from ESL, the OER and R&R from ESL are applicable.
A partial result from a minor is valid for 1 academic year. If you do not complete the minor with a sufficient grade within that academic year, the partial results are no longer valid.
It is not possible to follow two minors at the same time. Following a minor requires a full-time commitment (40 hours per week.
If you did not complete your minor with a sufficient grade, you can register for a minor in May via eduXchange. Be advised: there is no guarantee that you will be placed on the same minor.
