Please note: the Admissions Office of Erasmus University Rotterdam will determine whether or not your diploma grants you access upon receipt of your application. You can complete and submit your application even when you have not yet obtained your diploma and/or your proof of English proficiency.

You are eligible for admission if you hold any of the following diplomas: 
- Dutch VWO diploma 
- HBO propedeuse (completed first year of a four-year HBO programme at a Dutch university of applied sciences)  
- A secondary (high) school diploma equivalent to the Dutch VWO diploma. Please refer to the list of most common diplomasOpens external granting you access to bachelor programmes at Erasmus University Rotterdam. 
You meet our English language requirement when:
- You have a grade of 7 or higher for English on your 6 VWO final exam. Please note: if you are applying with a HBO propedeuse, then you need to take an English language proficiency test;
- You are obtaining an International Baccalaureate diplomaOpens external with English A at Higher or Standard Level (4 or higher) or English B at Higher Level (4 or higher);
- You are obtaining a European Baccalaureate diplomaOpens external with English as first or second language;
- You have obtained your diploma(s) or went to secondary school for at least two and a half years in one of the following countries: Australia, Canada (with the exception of Quebec), Ireland, New Zealand, South Africa, the United Kingdom and the United States of America.
If you do not meet one of the above requirements, then you need to demonstrate proof of proficiency in English through one of the following tests (you need to take the test in a test centre, online IELTS and TOEFL tests are not allowed):
- IELTS AcademicOpens external with a minimum overall band score of 7  
- TOEFL iBTOpens external with a minimum score of 94  
- Cambridge C1 AdvancedOpens external with a minimum score of 180 
- Cambridge C2 ProficiencyOpens external with a minimum score of 180
Important! Test scores may not be older than two years at the time of application. Note that it takes several weeks before the results of the tests are known. If you have not yet taken any English test, then we recommend that you take the IELTS or the TOEFL (you need to take the test in a test centre, online IELTS and TOEFL tests are not allowed).
Deadlines for submitting proof of English proficiency:
- Non-EEA students: 1 May
- EEA students: 1 August
The IBCoM programme aims to offers its students an international classroom and a cosmopolitan learning environment and seeks to select candidates who are eager to closely cooperate with people from different backgrounds.
In addition to the general entry requirements, the Selection Committee will therefore pay due attention to the motivation letter in selecting students for the programme. The programme seeks to attract students who, in one way or another, can be expected to make a significant contribution to a diverse and vibrant international classroom.
