Inclusive Soft Landing

A group of female students during Eureka week in 2021.

IDEA Center’s Inclusive Soft Landing project aims to identify and remove formal and informal barriers that diverse student groups can face when they start with their first bachelor study year at EUR. This is important because these barriers, both implicit and systemic, might lead to a weaker sense of social and academic fit, and therefore, undermine EUR’s commitment to foster a well-rounded student success culture.

The project aims to gather, share, and develop best onboarding practices across the different university levels - from central services to faculty and student association activities - to give diverse student groups equal opportunities for personal and professional development at EUR.

Together we make it work

For our Inclusive Soft Landing project we work together with several internal partners like faculty representatives, the Student Wellbeing Programme, Team SMF (Studying with a disability), student counsellors, International Office, Eurekaweek Management, Pre-academic Programme, and student associations.

Inclusive Soft Landing Initiatives

We set up several Inclusive Soft Landing initiatives.

Inclusive Soft Landing Infographic and Guidebook

In 2026, IDEA Center has launched an infographic with elements of a well-rounded and inclusive soft-landing experience to help all first-year bachelor students feel welcome at EUR in the first 100 days. In addition, a more detailed guidebook has been compiled for internal EUR faculty use when designing their own soft-landing activities; it includes examples of existing activities, best practices, suggestions and tips. You can access the infographic at the download section below. EUR employees can click here to access the guidebook. Would you like to discuss how this guidebook could be used in your faculty? Contact Veronika Norvaisaite.

Welcome to EUR flyer

Education & Student Affairs, IDEA Center, and Pre-Academic Programme (PAP) and Eurekaweek (EW) worked together to design and share a welcome flyer for newly accepted EUR students with information about central welcoming activities as well as university support services that are available to them all year round.

Support Services Lightening Quiz

IDEA Center collaborated with Student Wellbeing Programme in designing and delivering an interactive workshop for first-year students - “EUR Support Services: Lightening Quiz”. In small competing groups, students talk about and vote for the answer options about services as Safe@EUR, The Personal Support Hub, Siggie online coaching, International Office, and more. The quiz is available for EUR colleagues in Mentimeter or PPT formats, in English and Dutch languages. For more information, see the handbook document in the download section.
