dr. KA (Karolina) Kocemba

Biography

Dr. Karolina Kocemba is a socio-legal scholar and a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellow at the International Institute of Social Studies (ISS). She is also a Visiting Professor at the Oñati International Institute for the Sociology of Law. Previously, she was a Max Weber Fellow at the European University Institute, re:constitution Fellow and a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Wrocław.

At the ISS, she leads her Marie Skłodowska-Curie project REPRO-NETS (The Reproductive Rights and the Transnational Dynamics of Legal Mobilizations), which investigates how conservative and progressive networks of non-state actors influence reproductive rights in Europe through strategic uses of law. Adopting a socio-legal perspective, the project examines both high-profile legislation and low-profile regulations, compares the legal strategies of “pro-life” and “pro-choice” actors, and explores cross-border knowledge transfers and mobilization tactics. Using a mixed-methods approach, REPRO-NETS seeks to generate new insights into how transnational legal mobilizations are reshaping reproductive rights at national, European, and global levels.
