The Library supports researchers in enhancing their research impact, by increasing their visibility and the visibility of their scholarly outputs and by optimizing publication strategies. We support schools and research groups in the use of bibliometric databases for research evaluations.
Support researchers
You can contact us for:
- Advice on how and where you can locate and apply bibliometric indicators to your own scholarly output (best practices).
- Advice on publication strategies.
- Advice on increasing your visibility in academic databases using author identifiers, such as ORCID iD.
- Online modules and workshops, including Research impacts: a LibGuide covering the three most used databases for measuring research impact: Web of Science, Scopus and Google Scholar.
- Support in the use of SciVal and InCites, two bibliometric tools for analyzing and visualizing research performance, and Altmetric Explorer, a tool to analyze the online attention for scholarly publications.
- Advice on bibliometric analysis as part of your research, e.g. using VOSviewer.

Our support consists of:
- Promoting responsible use of metrics-based research evaluation and analysis. For guidance, we use the ten principles for research evaluations of the Leiden Manifesto for Research Metrics.
- Supporting bibliometric analyses for research assessments and grant applications.
- Supporting bibliometric analyses for (re)appointments, tenure, and promotion.
- Improving the visibility of Erasmus University Rotterdam in databases like Scopus and Web of Science.
- Advising on publication strategies.
