A UNIC Experience: Excursion to Bochum, Germany

Join the International Office and experience what it's like to be an international student for a day!

Do you have little or no experience abroad and are you curious to find out what it’s like to be an international student for a day? Then sign up for the excursion from Rotterdam to Bochum. Germany on 26 May 2026. During the excursion, you will discover what it is like to study at Bochum Ruhr University, expand your international network and explore the city. The programme includes a campus tour, lunch, a visit to the unique RUB-Makerspace where you will be able to do some fun workshops and a nice dinner.

Event details

  • Time: The bus leaves at 7:00 from Campus Woudestein, we will leave Bochum again at 19.00. 
  • Costs: Free
  • For whom? We are primarily targeting EUR students that have little or no experience abroad.
  • Trip includes: breakfast package for in the bus, lunch and dinner. BYO snacks and water for in the bus.

Programme 

07:00 - Bus departure from Campus Woudestein with a breakfast package in the bus
10:30 - Arrival  and campus tour at Ruhr-Universität Bochum (RUB) campus
12:30 - 13:30 - Lunch on campus 
13:30 - 16:30 - RUB-Makerspace workshops (students can take part in one workshop)

  • 3D Printing for Beginners: Learn how 3D printing works and how to design a printable object (8 spots)

  • Textile Printing for Beginners: Design your own tote bag (included) or T-shirt (not included) using printable designs (8 spots)

  • LEGO Workshop: An interactive session exploring how LEGO can enhance communication and teamwork (20 spots)

  • AI@Work Exhibition: Visit the AI@Work exhibition at the Makerspace and explore how AI is shaping current and future work environments (20 spots)

16:30 - End of workshops and wrap-up 
17:30 - Dinner 
19:00 - Bus departure back to EUR campus 

Sign-up

A maximum of 50 students can be admitted to this day trip, so the available spots are limited. The registration is open until the19 May (or until spots fill up - first come, first served). 

Note: Regrettably, we have noticed a rising number of no-shows. We kindly request that you only sign up if you're committed to attending the trip. Should unforeseen circumstances prevent your participation, please notify us via email at events.io@eur.nl. This allows us to offer the spot to another interested student. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
