Where does the line lie?
Which conditions would you like to prevent? Where would you draw the line? And who should actually be allowed to decide on this? In recent years, researchers from ‘The DNA Dialogues’ have been discussing these issues with a wide range of people across the Netherlands: they spoke to people with genetic conditions, school pupils, people with religious beliefs and members of the public out and about. These conversations highlighted just how differently people view the same technology.
And you can have a go yourself. Spin the Wheel of Genetics, take a seat to continue the discussion, and jot down your ideas on the board. Perhaps your opinion will change as you go along. Or perhaps the question will turn out to be more complicated than you thought.
