The Community for Learning & Innovation (CLI) gives lecturers from Erasmus University Rotterdam (EUR) the opportunity to apply for a fellowship. With this fellowship, they research educational innovation, or carry out an educational project. On this page you can read more about the CLI Fellowship of Elbert Dijkgraaf (ESE) which analysed the integration of AI in education within the context of the master's program in Economics of Sustainability.
We analyse the integration of AI in education. We explored how AI could streamline the case approach by aiding in student navigation, reducing teacher workload in tasks like grading, and maintaining high academic standards. AI can be helpful, but it is essential to keep assessing what the quality of the output is, particularly in the case of thesis and assignment assessment. Newer versions of AI perform beter, but consistency is not guaranteed. This is incidentally also the case for human assessments. Still, AI is a good tool, but cannot act as a replacement for human assessment. AI does keep getting more intelligent in aiding students in their learning process. An interesting thought for further research is how AI can be helpful in keeping track of the learning performance of students.
