Better education for students, by students

Students-for-Students (S4S) stimulates and facilitates students’ projects which contribute to improving the quality of education for students.

S4S supports students in developing initiatives and actively collaborates with study associations and other student organisations to organise events that contribute to future-oriented and innovative education.

  • Advice: S4S offers advice on the organisation and promotion of initiatives and events. This can include feedback on promotional materials, support with marketing, and advice on event organisation. S4S has access to various marketing channels on campus and organises several events throughout the year.
  • Collaboration on events: S4S works together with study associations and other student organisations on events that align with the objectives of S4S. This can be a workshop, masterclass, panel discussion, or another interactive event. Depending on the event, S4S can support the content development, organisation, promotion, and practical implementation.
  • Practical support: Events that contribute to improving the quality of education for students may be eligible for practical support from S4S. This includes booking rooms and catering and, when available and appropriate, using the Erasmus Education Lab.
  • Financial support: Financial support depends on the initiative and the nature of the collaboration. It may include covering marketing costs, catering, or other expenses related to organising an event.

The aim of S4S is to increase student engagement, stimulate collaboration between different faculties and study associations, and contribute to more innovative, interdisciplinary, and student-centred education at EUR. The criteria below should therefore be seen as guidelines for initiatives considering getting in touch with us.

  • The initiative or event aligns with one or more pillars of the EUR Strategy 2030.
  • It offers educational value for students beyond the traditional curriculum.
  • It contributes to future-oriented, innovative, or interdisciplinary education.
  • It is distinct from existing initiatives within S4S and at EUR.
  • The event can be offered to students free of charge and is therefore freely accessible.
  • It is accessible to all EUR students.

The S4S Support Platform of the Erasmus University Rotterdam (EUR) originates from an initiative proposal by University Council student member Daniel Sieczkowski and is inspired by Prof. Dr. Gert-Jan Kleinrensink, who has been running a similar and tremendously successful S4S support platform at the Erasmus MC - called the Genootschap voor Extra-curriculaire Rotterdamse Studentenprojecten (GERS) - since many years.

S4S is part of the Community for Learning and Innovation (CLI), which was founded to ensure our university offers education to a new generation of students, which is catered to their needs. Learn more about the CLI.
