EdUconnect is the annual conference dedicated to educational innovation, organised by the Community for Learning & Innovation (CLI). Here, the EUR community of teachers, support staff, and students comes together to learn, exchange knowledge, inspire one another, and transform ideas into actionable opportunities. The theme for EdUconnect 2026 is Alternative Assessment: How do we evaluate skills for the future? We hope to see you on 26 March!
Plenary session
EdUconnect will be opened by Dr. Rob Kickert, assistant professor at the Educational Master Primary Education (EMPO) at the Erasmus School of Social and Behavioural Sciences (ESSB). Rob Kickert has been involved in the implementation of programmatic assessment in the EMPO and will set the tone for an interactive and engaging session.
Following Rob Kickert's introduction, participants will dive into a dynamic exploration and conversation on assessment, sharing practical insights and new ideas. Stay tuned for more updates!

Join two of the five workshops/sessions, where enthusiastic colleagues will introduce you to their topic. Below you will find more information about the content and what you can learn.
Theses are one of the most traditional forms of assessment in higher education. Isn’t it time to rethink them? In this interactive panel, you’ll engage with panellists who bring diverse experiences in innovative graduation projects that emphasize the development of professional skills and societal impact while remaining academically sound.
This panel takes place during workshop round 1.
▷ Hosts: The panel is led by Denise Levy Abeliuk and Marit Nieuwenhuys. Denise is a learning innovator at the Community for Learning & Innovation (CLI). Marit is an educational consultant at Risbo.
▷ Target group: Students, teachers, educational support staff.
What are ways to responsibly, effectively, and fairly use AI in different forms of assessment? What do students and teachers think are the right ways of doing it? Join us for an interactive panel of EUR students and teachers addressing potential cases and scenarios of AI in assessment, with a focus on using AI for feedback and grading.
This panel takes place during workshop round 2.
▷ Hosts: The panel is led by Jonathan Flores Minuesa. Jonathan is a learning innovator at the Community for Learning & Innovation (CLI), specialising in digitalisation and AI in education.
▷ Target group: Students, teachers, educational support staff.
In this workshop, you'll hear of Nick Koning's firsthand experiences of grading with AI over the past two and a half years. You will then roll-up your sleeves and experiment with AI-grading yourself using a tool Nick developed for this workshop.
▷ Host: This workshop is conducted by dr. Nick Koning. Nick is an assistant professor at Erasmus School of Economics (ESE).
▷ Target group: Teachers, educational support staff.
This is a practical, hands-on workshop where participants explore how to assess real-world skills through meaningful tasks, clear criteria, and evidence of learning. Participants will learn how to use a ready-to-apply toolkit to design authentic assessment activities, align them with learning outcomes, and give feedback that supports student growth, without increasing marking load.
▷ Host: This workshop is conducted by dr. Dimitrios Vlachopoulos. Dimitrios is an associate professor at the department of Technology and Operations Management of Rotterdam School of Management (RSM).
▷ Target group: Teachers, educational support staff (including instructional designers, programme coordinators, educational advisors, learning developers).
Explore how assessment principles underlying skills development connect with feedback literacy and self-regulated learning. In this hands-on workshop, experience practical exercises from a recently developed skills education toolbox and learn how to empower students to take charge of their learning. You will leave with actionable strategies to implement in your own teaching practice.
▷ Host: This workshop is conducted by mr.dr. Hanna Weijers. Hanna is programme manager Skills Education at Erasmus School of Law (ESL).
▷ Target group: Teachers and educational support staff involved in course development.
How can you use FeedbackFruits as a tool to assess students? This workshop will cover the components Group Formation, Peer Review, and Group Member Evaluation. More information about the content and learning objectives will follow soon!
