Who is this for?

This MicroLab is intended for TAs and Tutors that are interested to further develop their teaching skills.

What will you achieve?

  • Select and deliver the appropriate active teaching methods for your tutorial;
  • Reflect on your own strengths and improvements in delivering an activating teaching method in your own education.

Form and time investment

This MicroLab has a blended character. You will start in the online Canvas environment containing materials describing various activating teaching methods. The preparatory assignment will consist of preparing a short teaching session using one of those methods (about 3 hours of total preparation time). During the physical workshop (3h) participants will practically apply preparatory assignment and practice how to deliver activating teaching situations.

Assessment and certificate

The MicroLab is successfully completed if the following elements are met:

  • The participant has successfully completed the preparatory assignment and applied it during the workshop.
  • The participant has been observed while giving a tutorial.
  • The participant has reflected on the application of active learning activities in his/her own teaching.

Earn an Edubadge

If you made the preparation and participated in the session, you can earn an Edubadge. This is a digital, visual certificate which you can share on e.g. LinkedIn. Interested parties can immediately click on the certificate to find out what you have done to achieve the Edubadge.
