DRIFT is a leading research institute in transition science. Founded in 2004, it was one of the first organizations in the world focused on transitions to a just and sustainable society. DRIFT is a social enterprise (BV) of Erasmus University Rotterdam. Over the past twenty years, we have seen the research and practice of sustainability transitions develop into a mature international scientific domain. We read it between the lines and see it firsthand in practice: it is possible to fundamentally reorganize our energy systems, food supply, healthcare, and other systems. As action researchers, we are not neutral bystanders—we want to contribute to that change. We are convinced that this is best achieved through co-creation with a wide range of individuals and organizations. Our approach is both activist and reflexive.

Erasmus Center for Healthcare Governance: by and for healthcare leaders. The Institute for Housing and Urban Development Studies (IHS) is a teaching, consulting, and research institute within Erasmus University Rotterdam. Our mission is to inspire and empower urban professionals and citizens to make cities work for everyone. Our work is based on the cross-pollination of our three core activities: teaching, consulting, and research. Our experts are actively engaged in the field, bringing firsthand insights from diverse urban contexts worldwide. Lessons from our ongoing projects are brought directly into the classroom, while student insights and academic developments feed back into our external engagement, creating a dynamic learning cycle and impact. This unique positioning enables IHS specialists to connect theory and practice, enriching both the services we provide and the learning experience of our students. Our activities address a wide range of themes, including, but not limited to, environment and climate change, nature-based solutions, urban housing and land use, urban informality, urban planning and policy, feminist urbanism, digital innovation in the city, and data analytics.

Risbo is an independent institute for research, training, and consultancy, affiliated with the Erasmus School of Social and Behavioral Sciences. Risbo offers training and qualification programs aimed at the continuous development of both beginning and experienced professionals with teaching responsibilities.

Erasmus University Rotterdam is committed to further internationalizing its activities. EFS (Erasmus Fiscal Studies) was established in March 1990 as a foundation called European Fiscal Studies, following the decision by the tax departments of the Faculty of Economics and the Faculty of Law to collaborate on this endeavor. Since 2022, the foundation has been a legal entity called Erasmus Fiscal Studies BV, a wholly owned subsidiary of Erasmus University Rotterdam. The foundation is still managed by the tax departments of the Erasmus Faculty of Law and the Erasmus Faculty of Economics.
