As an Open Access Officer, you play a key role within the Publication Support team of the EUR University Library. In this role, you combine subject-matter expertise with a service-oriented approach.
Job description
You will be part of the Publication Support team at the University Library, an enthusiastic team of six colleagues. Together, you support EUR researchers in the field of Open Access. In this role, you contribute to the Open Access objectives and the Open and Responsible Science ambitions of EUR from within the University Library.
In addition, you play an active leading role in developments around Open Access. You not only help translate Open Access strategy into policy and practical implementation, but you also actively bring along and connect colleagues within the University Library in both policy development and execution. You work closely with faculty liaisons (FLs) and other stakeholders to strengthen the adoption of Open Access across the university and to ensure that services, communication, and support are aligned with faculty needs.
Your main responsibilities include:
Supporting and advising researchers on Open Access
Managing the University Library’s Open Access fund
Keeping the University Library’s Open Access pages up to date
Working on Open Access–related projects (monitoring OA publications, increasing the use of Green OA and Diamond OA within the university)
Taking a proactive role in the further development and implementation of Open Access policy and strategy, and ensuring internal alignment within the University Library
Working closely with faculty liaisons (FLs) and other colleagues to embed Open Access in faculty communication and support, and to stimulate uptake and awareness
Participating in a national project on Diamond Open Access, which aims to create a more inclusive and diverse publishing landscape. As part of this project, you work with a small team for the national expertise center for Diamond Open Access.
You report to the Team Lead Publication Support.
Job requirements
As an Open Access Officer, you are flexible and energized by working together with colleagues in a team. You work independently and have an open and collaborative approach to teamwork and coordination. In addition, you bring:
A completed academic degree with demonstrable knowledge of the research and publication process
Experience in an academic or research environment
Strong data analysis skills
Knowledge of multiple aspects of Open Science
Demonstrable ability to connect and align stakeholders (e.g., faculty liaisons and colleagues) and to translate policy into practical implementation
Excellent communication skills in Dutch (B1 or higher) and English (B2 or higher)
Employment conditions and benefits
We offer you an internationally oriented and varied job in an enthusiastic team, with excellent working conditions in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities (CAO-NU).
The start date of this position is as soon as possible and you will be based at at campus Woudestein in the University Library. The position is for 0,8 FTE. The salary is dependent on your experience and knowledge and ranges from a minimum of €3.546 to a maximum of €5.538 gross per month on a fulltime basis, in accordance with scale 10 of the CAO-NU. The contract is offered for a period of 1 year and can be converted into an employment contract for an indefinite period if suitability is proven and if continued in the same position, if (financial and/or organizational) circumstances remain the same.

The LRS department provides professional support to researchers through a wide range of services for the faculties. A diverse team of professionals enthusiastically and passionately offers new and existing services for researchers within all faculties. They do this in close collaboration within EUR and the University Library.
The Publication Support Team
Within LRS, the Publication Support team supports researchers and faculty partners in sharing research output visibly, accessibly, and responsibly. We offer advice, consultations, and training on Open Access publishing and guide researchers in making appropriate publication choices. We also provide functional support for research information systems such as Pure and Hora Finita, ensuring that publications and research information are correctly recorded and can be optimally reused for reporting, accountability, and impact assessment.
