IDEA Center’s Soft Landing project aims to identify and remove formal and informal barriers that diverse student groups can face when they start with their first bachelor study year at EUR. This is important because these barriers, both implicit and systemic, might lead to a weaker sense of social and academic fit, and therefore, undermine EUR’s commitment to foster a well-rounded student success culture.
The project aims to gather, share, and develop best onboarding practices across the different university levels - from central services to faculty and student association activities - to give diverse student groups equal opportunities for personal and professional development at EUR. This way, the Soft Landing project bridges and complements the existing IDEA Center’s initiatives in Outreach, Inclusive Education, and Student Engagement.

Together we make it work
For our Soft Landing project we work together with several internal partners like faculty representatives, the Student Wellbeing Programme, Team SMF (Studying with a disability), student counsellors, International Office, Eurekaweek Management, Pre-academic Programme, and student associations.

Welcome to EUR flyer
IDEA Center, International Office (IO), Pre-Academic Programme (PAP) and Eurekaweek (EW) worked together to design a welcome flyer to new students with information about central welcoming activities as well as university support services that are available all year round.
Support Services Lightening Quiz
IDEA Center collaborated with Student Wellbeing Programme in designing and delivering an interactive workshop for first-year students - “EUR Support Services: Lightening Quiz”. In small competing groups, students talk about and vote for the answer options about services as Safe@EUR, The Personal Support Hub, Siggie online coaching, International Office, and more.
