Social Reproduction Feminism Film Series

WORM Rotterdam
Green poster for Social Reproduction Feminism Film Series with orange human & organ silhouettes

Together with WORM, SocTalk curated a film series that explores cinema through the lens of social reproduction feminism. By social reproduction, we mean all the work that keeps society running; such as care, maintenance, emotional labour, domestic labour; much of it unpaid, undervalued, or taken for granted. It’s the everyday labour that sustains people, communities, and systems, even when it’s invisible.

Using the lens of social reproduction, this film series questions what work makes life possible and whose labour remains unseen? Organized into four thematic screenings, the program highlights how the personal is entangled with the political. All screenings will be introduced by different social scientists who will offer their perspective on the film.

The four thematic screenings will take place on the following evenings (see poster with more info attached):

  • 25/02/2026: The Constant Work (General introduction to the programme by Charlotte Waltz & Guusje Enneking)
  • 25/03/2026: Reproductive Justice (Introduction by Siggie Vertommen, UGent & UvA)
  • 29/04/2026: The Household (Introduction by Sarah Marie Hall, University of Manchester)
  • 20/05/2026: Maintenance is a Drag (Introduction by Amal Miri, Universiteit Antwerpen)

Please feel free to share these events among your students!
SocTalk has made 10 free tickets per screening available for students at ESSB. If they would like to attend one of the screenings for free, they can fill in this form (we will pick names randomly one week before each screening).
(Please note: Cineville is alo valid at WORM, so in case you have a Cineville subscription please do not sign up for the free ticket.)
